Za’atar Flatbread with Labneh Recipe

Golden flatbread brushed with olive oil and Basira Za’atar, baked until crisp and served with tangy labneh - a Middle Eastern classic.

- What Makes It Special?

Za’atar’s blend of wild thyme, sumac and sesame adds earthy, herby depth. When baked on flatbread, the oils bloom and release their rich aroma.

- Ingredients

  • 2 flatbreads or naan

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1½ tablespoons Basira Za’atar

  • ½ cup labneh or thick yogurt

  • Drizzle of honey (optional)

- Method

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (fan).

  2. Mix Za’atar with olive oil to make a paste.

  3. Brush the mixture over the flatbreads.

  4. Bake for 8–10 minutes until golden and crisp.

  5. Serve warm with labneh and a drizzle of honey if desired.

- Tips & Variations

  • Add sliced olives, tomatoes or feta before baking.

  • Swap labneh for hummus or baba ghanoush.
