Shawarma Chicken Skewers Recipe
Juicy, marinated chicken thighs seasoned with Basira’s Shawarma Blend, grilled or roasted and wrapped in flatbread with pickles and creamy garlic sauce.

- Ingredients

500g boneless, skinless chicken thighs

1½ tablespoons Basira Shawarma Blend

2 garlic cloves, minced

Juice of 1 lemon

3 tablespoons plain yoghurt

1 tablespoon olive oil

Salt to taste

Skewers (if using wooden, soak in water for 30 minutes)
- Method

Cut chicken thighs into large chunks.

In a bowl, combine Shawarma Blend, garlic, lemon juice, yoghurt, olive oil and salt.

Add chicken and mix well. Cover and marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight.

Thread chicken onto skewers.

Grill over medium heat or bake at 200°C (400°F) for 20–25 minutes, turning halfway, until golden and cooked through.

Serve in flatbreads with pickled vegetables, garlic sauce or tahini, and fresh herbs.
